Indo-Canadian Architect-Musician Vandana Vishwas is a singer, composer and arranger specializing in expressive north Indian song forms such as bhajans, ghazals and geet. Apart from being formally trained in north Indian classical music, and being an All India Radio artist for about ten years before she left India; Vandana has performed on the Indian national TV and at the prestigious Acharya Brihaspati Sammelan conducted by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai, alongwith most of the prestigious stages in Toronto, Canada.
The success of Vandana’s debut album Meera - The Lover… released in October 2009 has catapulted her into gaining wide-spread media coverage and critical acclaim all over North America from leading mainstream media such as The Milwaukee Express, The Albuquerque Journal, The Toronto Star, The Toronto Sun and CBC Radio 1. Songs from Meera - The Lover… have been featured and have consistently appeared at the Top 10 charts for International and World music FM radio stations in Canada and US.
Apart from being awarded with 2010 Best Toronto World CD Album by Toronto Exclusive Magazine, Vandana has been nominated for World Artist of the year by The Indies - the 10th Annual Independent Music Awards 2010, Best World Music by TIMA - the 5th Toronto Independent Music Awards 2010, Established Performing Artist by Mississauga Arts Council at Marty 2010 awards (honorable mention) and K.M.
