I am a concert artist and a teacher of Sitar music. I hail from the legendary Etawah Gharana. I am a Masters degree holder in Music and the double Gold medalist of my year. I have toured extensively around the world spreading Raga music.
Contact Now| Subhranil Sarkar is regarded as one of the most prominent Sitar-players of his generation. He belongs to the Etawah Gharana (also known as the Imdadkhani Gharana). He was initiated into music at the age of 6 by Sri Bimal Chatterjee of Etawah Gharana. From 2000 onwards he has been a disciple of Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. Over a period of two decades, Subhranil has established himself as one of the most noted young torchbearers of his Gharana and one of the foremost disciples of Ustadji. Subhranil acquired his Masters degree in Music from the Rabindra Bharati University being the first-class first gold medalist of his year. For six years he was associated with the Archive of North Indian Classical Music (Jadavpur University, Kolkata) as an archivist. He has been appointed as an Examiner as well as Adjudicator with the Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He has presented lecture-demonstrations on the ‘Etawah Gharana’, 'Sitar' and ‘Ustad Amir Khan’ at several important institutions. Subhranil Sarkar has performed in numerous concerts and festivals in India, Canada, U.S.A., U.K., Europe, Mexico and South-East Asia. He started performing at the All India Radio, Kolkata from the age of 9. One of the biggest highlights in Subhranil’s life is to have accompanied the great Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan on the sitar in concerts.
