Shailendra Mishra, Master’s Degree in Music (percussion) AND an ‘A’ grade artist of ‘ALL INDIA RADIO’ (AIR) and Doordarshan (T.V.) got guidance from eminent gurus like Shree Arjun Rai, Pandit Anand Gopal Bandopadhyay and Pandit Sameer Chatterjee. He represents both Banaras and Farrukkhabad Gharanas.
Has conducted workshops as well as ‘Lecture Demonstrations’ covering various topics on music especially the Indian rhythm and related aspects of the art of Tabla playing.
His Solo performances and Jugalbandi concerts (Including North & South Indian music with Carnatic percussionists) have been greatly admired and applauded by critics and connoisseurs.
He has worked with Jazz musicians like Lewis Pragasam and Greg Lyons and also with ‘Gamelan’ (a group of musicians playing the Malaysian traditional instruments).
He has propogated India Music in Malaysia as a faculty in the Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur on deputation through ICCR where he taught this art to the people of Malaysia.
Performed solo and in accompaniment with many famous artists of Indian classical music as well as of other music styles like:
